Test Structure
The test structure has two floors with a total plan size of 30ft x 30ft, which represents the most common type of steel construction in the U.S. Both floors are made of metal deck with poured-in-place concrete. The first floor is supported by steel joist and the second floor by hot-rolled steel beams.

Human Footfall Force Measurements
Using the VTL's large force platform and specially built stair, the footfall force when people moving on a flat surface and stair are measured. These measurements are used for updating and verification of computer models to better predict the response of floor and stair structures.
